Biblical Soul Care

What does Intensive Biblical Discipleship involve?
Throughout the Bible we find examples of all kinds of people who struggled with life's most difficult trials. Paul struggled with despair and often felt overwhelmed in his circumstances. David, Elijah and Jeremiah had bouts of depression and Peter always seemed to be in some kind of conflict.
Intensive Biblical Discipleship involves another fellow believer in the Lord coming alongside of you during your struggle to provide encouragement and hope from the Scriptures so that you can respond to your circumstances in a way that brings glory to the Lord Jesus.

What is the basis of Intensive Biblical Discipleship?
We believe that the Bible provides guidance and instruction for faith and life (Romans 15:3-4 and 2 Peter 1:3) and we believe Jesus desires to be the Shepherd and Overseer of your soul (1 Peter 2:25). Soul care is based solely on scriptural principles rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. It is not the same kind of professional advice and service that
could be purchased from a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. Soul Care is meant to provide you with a biblical perspective for making your own decisions based on principles that are revealed in the Scriptures.

Advocates are a critical part of the ministry to provide soul care to those in need of hope and encouragement. These dedicated care givers are available outside of the regular sessions when you most need them to listen, pray, admonish and instruct you toward a response that honors the Lord Jesus Christ in the midst of your struggle .

What is expected of those receiving Intensive Biblical Discipleship?
2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed rightly handling the word of truth." Confession, repentance and forgiveness are all processes. This means that they must be frequently revisited and practiced with the grace of God that is supplied through the Holy Spirit.
Those receiving this kind of soul care are shown the love, grace and forbearance that the Lord Jesus Christ has shown to us all.
Donations: Soul Care and Intensive Biblical Discipleship is a partnership between The 15:20 Coalition and Calvary Baptist Church.
